Wallflower Christmas by Lisa Kleypas

Rating 4
Book Description:
The Wallflowers are four young ladies in London who banded together in their wild and wickedly wonderful searches for true love. Now happily married, they join together once again to help one of the world’s most notorious rogues realize that happiness might be right under the mistletoe.…
It’s Christmastime in London and Rafe Bowman has arrived from America for his arranged meeting with Natalie Blandford, the very proper and beautiful daughter of Lady and Lord Blandford. His chiseled good looks and imposing physique are sure to impress the lady in waiting and, if it weren’t for his shocking American ways and wild reputation, her hand would already be guaranteed. Before the courtship can begin, Rafe realizes he must learn the rules of London society. But when four former Wallflowers try their hand at matchmaking, no one knows what will happen. And winning a bride turns out to be more complicated than Rafe Bowman anticipated, especially for a man accustomed to getting anything he wants. However, Christmas works in the most unexpected ways, changing a cynic to a romantic and inspiring passion in the most timid of hearts.
A Wallflower Christmas takes a trip to Victorian London, under the mistletoe, and on a journey of the heart. With her trademark charm, sensuality, and unforgettable characters, there’s no one like Lisa Kleypas to make you believe in the magic of Christmas.

My Review: This was a nice, light, holiday read. I'm not usually a fan of Holiday books (especially novellas), but I seemed to have a lot of Christmas books this season. I just hope I get to read them all, because I can't read Christmas books after Christmas is over!!

I love revisiting characters from previous books. Two scenes I really enjoyed was one between Evie and St. Vincent and one with Lillian and Westcliff. If you haven't read the others in the series I wouldn't start with this one. I would at least read Devil in Winter and It Happened One Autumn first.

Now on the hero and heroine of this story. I really enjoyed Rafe and Hannah's story my only complaint that it was too short. I did believe the instant chemistry the two had. I though it was a very sweet story, that was a little steamy.

If your looking for a quick read and love Lisa Kleypas it is worth picking up.

Banner O'Brien by Linda Lael Miller

Book Description: In 1886, lovely Banner 0'Brien overcame every obstacle and won her coveted medical diploma. Still she longed to escape from Oregon...and the nightmares that left her shaking, screaming one man's name. Banner fled to the Washington Territory to accept position with Dr. Adam Corbin...arrogant, handsome and rumor said, violent. Although Banner respected his skills, she was unnerved by the very nearness of this moody, powerful man. His past was a mystery, that would challenge her to the utmost...for Banner was determined to win Adam Corbin's heart!

Review: This is the first book in the Corbin series. This is an older series first published in the 1980's. I read my My Darling Melissa first which was re-released earlier this year. I really enjoyed that book so I decided to get the rest of the series. Banner O'Brien had a lot of my favorite themes. Heroine with an interesting occupation (for 1886 anyway), great chemistry, surprise marriage, some great secondary characters and a little twist at the end.

Rating 4.5

Reader's Block

Has anyone ever had readers block?? When every book you pick up you just can't get into it. I picked up The Raven Prince and have read nothing, but great things about this book. So how come I just can't get into it?? I have also tried to start Show No Mercy by Cindy Gerard, but the same thing happen. Maybe I just need a break.

What about everyone else? What do you do when nothing is appealing to you?

Houston, We Have a Problem by Erin McCarthy

Rating 4.5 stars

Book Description:
Dr. Houston Hayes has never had trouble maintaining his professional distance with both patients and co-workers...until he meets resident Josie Adkins. Every time the tiny tornado of cheery clumsiness drops a chart in his presence, he's treated to a view that makes him extremely interested in her bones. Jumping them, that is. For a man who prides himself on control at all times, this is getting to be a problem. And problems always have solutions...All her life, Josie has wanted to be a surgeon. But how can she do that while she's suffering from the debilitating Dr. Hayes Induced Dropping Medical Equipment Syndrome? Honestly, with those ice blue eyes and powerful shoulders dipping down to a - whoops, there goes the blood pressure cuff - what's a girl to do? And then Dr. Hayes shocks her by prescribing a very sexy cure: one night of sheet-burning passion to erase the sexual tension for both of them. But only one night...he won't need more than that...Suddenly, Josie has her mission - a chance to prove the arrogant Dr. Hayes wrong. One night with her will never be enough if she has her way. And soon, both doctors may be falling into a desire deeper than any they've ever known.

My Review:
This was a fun, sexy read with and interesting twist. When Dr. Hayes has his own medical emergency Josie is right there to take care of him. I also liked that the heroine is little on the curvy side. I highly recommend this author. If you like Jane Graves or Jennifer Cruise give this author a try.
After you finished the book the author has posted a deleted scene on her website. If you click on book list and scroll down until you see this title and you will see bonus click on the that and it will take you to the deleted scene.
Erin McCarthy is an author that I have recently discovered. I am in the process of reading her back list. I discovered her vampire series first, which if you like light vampire romances I highly suggest her Vegas Vampire series.

Power Play by Deirdre Martin

Book Description: A leading soap opera actress, Monica Geary is good at faking it. But pretending to fall for NHL star and notorious playboy Eric Mitchell is going to be her hardest role ever. Yet she has no choice, for she desperately needs an edge in order to maintain her daytime diva status.

Eric Mitchell is a man in demand. First he was traded to save the New York Blades, and now the publicity department has loaned him out to help save Monica Geary's career. What no one knows is that one of People magazine's hottest bachelors is also a closet soap opera fan. He's had his eyes on Monica for years-and can't wait to get his arms around her.

Review: I have read all of Deirdre Martin's books. I love her NY Blades series. I like this book, but it wasn't my favorite by this author. There were times that I didn't really like the heroine. I loved the hero Eric (twin brother to Jason the hero from Chasing Stanley), he was a small town boy who made it to the big time. I also loved revisiting Jason and Delilah. If your going to picked up a book by Ms. Martin I would start with Body Check.

I still enjoyed this book and she is still an auto buy for me.

Seduce Me at Sunrise by Lisa Kleypas

Book Description:

It’s now or never for Kev to make his move. But first, he must confront a dangerous secret about his destiny—or risk losing the only woman he has lived for…

Review:

All I'm going to say is that I loved this book. I don't think there is a book that Lisa Kleypas hasn't written that I didn't like. I just recently read both her contemporary books and loved them both.

I loved the way she tied up the loose ends from Mine Till Midnight. To really appreciate this story I would read Mine Till Midnight which is the first book in the Hathaway Series. I liked that not only do you re-visit the characters, but the story is also told from their point of view which I loved.

Fangs for the Memories by Kathy Love

From the Back Cover:
Oh, Brother!
I'm watching my brother swagger through our New York City apartment...smiling. Rhys, the detached, surly man who turned brooding into an art form. But he's not brooding now. No, he's practically threatening to pistol whip me for shaking hands with the beautiful, half-dressed creature named Jane who just tried to sneak out of his bedroom. Weird. Brother Grim has a sex drive?
That's not all that has me freaked out. Something terrible happened last night, something that made Rhys break his own rule and save the life of a mortal. Trouble is he doesn't remember anything from the past two hundred years. Like that he's a vampire, not a Regency viscount with an English accent.
All I know is this mortal woman has managed to touch my brother's frozen heart, and I, Sebastian Young, will do whatever it takes to help him keep her...

Review:
This is the first book in the Young Brother Vampire Series. The plot is very interesting.
A vampire with selective amnesia. Rhys believes it's 1780 and that he is a viscount in England. He wants to forget all the horrible things that have happen so he can be with Jane guilt free. Rhys' brother gets Jane to go along with this so not the shock Rhys with the truth. I enjoyed this story and can't wait to check out the rest of the series.
